The first verse of the Yoga Sutras tells us that the practice of yoga begins now. If we can simply show up and be present, then there is nothing else left to accomplish. Unfortunately, this requires that we make some conscious effort to undo all of the patterning that has conditioned us to think otherwise. Television and media have ingrained the idea that happiness and peace lie somewhere else — in a new car or home, a relationship or some idealist view of life void of all discomfort. This myth inhibits us to both develop spiritually and find out what true joy is.
